Pastoral Leadership

Rev. Christopher Ross is the pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ as of September 1.

He offers these comments of introduction to the church and the community.......

One of the first questions I tend to get when I begin working with a new group of people is where I’m from.  I usually answer that I grew up in Missouri, and while that’s mostly true, it’s a simplified version.  I was actually born in the Los Angeles area to a family originally from the Saint Louis area.  When I was age seven, we moved “back” to the St. Louis area where I grew up.

I went to college, and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri; and received my Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis.

After ordination into the United Church of Christ, I served a church in western Minnesota for five years and then returned to Missouri, serving a church in the central part of the state for another five years.  Most recently, since January 2015, I’ve been serving as Interim Pastor at First Reformed United Church of Christ in Manitowoc.

My wife–the Rev. Laura Yurs–serves as Pastor of Immanuel United Church of Christ near Lakeland University.  Together with my son Christian, we live in the Immanuel parsonage.

I am excited about the opportunity of serving among you and look forward to beginning our time together.  No doubt, we have much to learn about each other—I know I have much to learn about you—but I already trust that we are bound in the covenant formed by Jesus Christ that calls each and every one of us to serve as ministers and members of God’s own Body of Christ.

If you have questions please feel free to ask!  I can’t wait to get to know you!
